The success of novel targeted therapies and fixed dosing schedules for the treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma (CLL/SLL) can be limited by adverse events (AEs). It has been increasingly important that oncology nurse teams have an established protocol for AE management to improve patient outcomes. Tajuana Bradley, MSN, APRN-BC, is a family nurse practitioner at Georgia Cancer Specialists, PC with over 20 years of experience in oncology and hematology. She has demonstrated exceptional clinical performance and has earned several awards recognizing her clinical excellence in oncology and hematology services through Emory University. As a patient advocate, Tajuana is deeply committed to her patients and leads with compassion and empathy to deliver comprehensive care. In addition, Tajuana is a member of the Oncology Nursing Society and supports her colleagues by presenting at local and national conferences.

Amy Goodrich, RN, MSN, CRNP, Research Associate is a Nurse Practitioner in the Hematologic Malignancies Program and Research Nursing Manager at The Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Ms. Goodrich manages patients with various types of hematologic malignancies, with a concentration on the lymphomas. She also manages the Cancer Center’s research nurses and is extremely involved in research operations.
Ms. Goodrich earned her Master’s Degree in 2000 as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from the Johns Hopkins University and her undergraduate nursing degree from the University of Pittsburgh. She has published and presented extensively on various research topics, hematologic malignancies, new agents, symptom management, and other topics important to research and clinical professionals.

Target Audience
This CE activity is intended for oncology nurses and NPs who provide care for individuals with CLL and SLL.
Educational Objectives
After completing this CE activity, the participant should be better able to:
- Select safe and effective fixed-duration combinations to improve patient care and outcomes
- Identify the most common and serious adverse events (AEs) that emerge during treatment with targeted therapies and combination regimens, including negative outcomes associated with mutations in black patients
- Plan strategies to mitigate treatment-emergent AEs most troublesome for patients
- Engage patients of all backgrounds and ethnicities in discussion of the risks of AEs relative to treatment outcomes
